Record of the Day Features “Don’t” New Single from Salt Ashes
Record of the Day has made Salt Ashes‘ new single “Don’t” their editorially-chosen ‘Record of the Day‘. The electronic pop artist just released “Don’t” last Friday, February 22nd via Radikal Records. Having supported past Salt Ashes releases and following her career, Record of the Day were thrilled to share what makes “Don’t” stand out:
Following last year’s brilliantly brooding synth-pop number and RotD Go All Out, London-based artist Salt Ashes is back with this minimal and airy synth number. Written with singer-songwriter Jon Allen during a studio session where they both ended up counselling each other about past relationships, Don’t is the emotionally charged anti-love song outcome of their time writing together. With a lighter feel than her previous releases, Salt Ashes’ luscious vocals again take centre stage amidst a sparse and downtempo production interspersed with warm synth melodies. Co-produced by Salt Ashes herself and Jonny Coote, the track has so far garnered tastemaker support from the likes of Born Music, Happy magazine and Nexus Radio in the US to add to her list of admirers, including the Line of Best Fit, The Guardian, Wonderland and Noisey. – Record of the Day
“Don’t” follows up Salt Ashes 2018 breakout singles, “Girls” and “Go All Out,” which were extremely well received by taste-makers, including The Line of Best Fit, Breaking More Waves and PressPLAY OK. Both singles were heavily supported by Spotify and appeared on playlists like Spotify’s UK/Italy Viral 50, The Pop List, and New Music Friday playlists – leading to over 400,000 streams.
