Written with acclaimed UK singer-songwriter, Jon Allen during a studio session where they both ended up counselling each other about past relationships, “Don’t” is the emotionally charged anti-love song outcome of their time writing together. Co-produced by Salt Ashes herself and Jonny Coote the single presents a lighter feel than her previous releases, with Salt Ashes’ luscious vocals taking center stage amidst a sparse and down-tempo production interspersed with warm synth melodies.

“I wrote the song with Jon Allen in one of those studio sessions where you spend the day counselling each other and then end up writing a song about it in the final hour. It’s my anti-love song and confession to a guy that I was seeing. I told him from the start that I didn’t want anything serious but he ended up wanting more and not believing that I didn’t too. I’m not looking for love right now. I had a big love and that fucked up so I’m not ready to go through another for that one to fuck up too.” Salt Ashes

“Don’t” follows up Salt Ashes 2018 breakout singles, “Girls” and “Go All Out,” which were extremely well received by taste-makers, including The Line of Best Fit, Breaking More Waves and PressPLAY OK. Both singles were heavily supported by Spotify and appeared on playlists like Spotify’s UK/Italy Viral 50, The Pop List, and New Music Friday playlists – leading to over 400,000 streams.

With stamps of approval from tastemakers such as The Guardian, Billboard, MTV, Attitude Magazine, NOISEY, Popjustice, Wonderland, CLASH, Missguided and BBC Radio (Introducing, Radio 1 & 1Xtra) as well as opening for artists such as Tove Styrke, Say Lou Lou, Nimmo, Bright Light Bright Light and 80s pop sensation Tiffany, it’s clear to see Salt Ashes is on the verge of becoming a household name.
