Creamfields founder James Barton has said that the dance music scene wouldn’t exist in North America without David Guetta.
Speaking in front of an audience of industry luminaries at the IMS, Barton said, “David Guetta gets slammed so many times, [but] there wouldn’t be an American electronic scene without him”. Barton, who recently sold his Creamfields running business to Live Nation for £13.9 million, went on to say “He opened up America for all of these guys to follow. And now because he’s really successful, he gets a bit of stick. I think that’s wrong.” The comments echo sentiment recently expressed by David Guetta where he said staying underground would have killed dance music.
