DJ Kristian Nairn Featured on UK’s The Sun

Kristian Nairn may be most commonly recognized for his portrayl of Hodor on HBO‘s hit series Game of Thrones. But you may not know that the 41 year old is a renowned DJ, who has been DJing for over 20 years. UK’s The Sun recently featured Kristian Nairn on their site, where he spoke about about his career, his DJ sets, and more. He may be known for holding doors, but Game Of Thrones’ Hodor is actually better at holding down the club with his epic house mixes. Fans of the HBO drama may not know that actor Kritian Nairn, 41 – who bowed out during series six – is actually a successful DJ who tours the globe playing top clubs.

Northern Irish actor Kristian describes himself as a “progressive house” DJ, meaning he prefers to play the 90s “rave” side of the dance genre. The 6ft 11in star, who’s openly gay, used to be the resident DJ at an LGBT Belfast nightclub called Kremlin.

Hardcore fans of the fantasy drama may have grabbed a ticket for his brief tour Rave Of Thrones in the winter of 2014. It’s a surprising revelation about a man whose character could only utter one word – his own name – throughout the entire show.

Previously, Kristian was asked what music he thinks his Game Of Thrones alter-ego would listen to. He hilariously responded: “Probably something frat boys would listen to, because he’s a bit of an idiot. So let’s go with dubstep.”

Sadly for fans of the show Kristian has also vowed never to play Game Of Thrones remixes or samples. He said: “I would never do that — there’s enough of those around, anyway. “I don’t do anything different than I normally do in my DJ set, ever. I’m not into gimmicks, really.”

Asked if he’s annoyed that Thrones’ huge success has overshadowed his deck-spinning prowess, he said he rather likes playing for fans of the dram He explained; “I’ll always say a ‘Hodor’ right at the end [of a set], because I think I’d probably get lynched if I didn’t. But, you know, it is what it is. People sort of assume that it p***es me off in some way, but it doesn’t. It’s given me this wonderful vehicle to sort of push myself and music into the world, which I didn’t have before. So how can I resent that?”
