Salt Ashes reveals invigorating remix of “Body Says” by Manuel Riva, supporting the release of her sophomore album ‘Killing My Mind’
Following up the release of her sophomore album Killing My Mind in November last year, Salt Ashes now gives a proper single release for the album’s focus track, “Body Says”, with an official remix from Manuel Riva, along with an upcoming music video.
Already a club-ready banger, Billboard-charting DJ/Producer Manuel Riva has turned “Body Says” into an atmospheric and euphoric deep house track, driven by Giorgio Moroder inspired synth-scapes and immersive, airy electronic textures. The song’s invigorating nature draws on the empowering lyrics of the song, which are all about owning your own body and choices, but the inspiration comes from a more poignant place of understanding the struggles women face each time they go on a night out.

Romanian producer Manuel Riva has become internationally renowned for his signature deep house productions. On his mix the DJ states, “the minute I listened to “Body Says” I knew I would love to remix it, so when the boys at Radikal Records brought up the subject, it was such an easy decision to make. I was introduced to Salt Ashes years back and have had a thing for her voice since then.”
Salt Ashes adds, “I love how Manuel has slowed “Body Says” down yet instilled so much energy into it that it makes you want to dance hard. It’s a vibe.”
An album that explored all of the relationships in her life, including hers with the patriarchy, in Killing My Mind, Salt Ashes crafted a fierce combination of slick, yet gritty pop; carrying hard-hitting messages that both challenge and empower in equal measure. “It’s a journey through the last couple of years so it feels very personal and cathartic,” she explains. “I have to stop myself from crying occasionally as some of the subjects are still very raw. But I love that. It makes me know that I really wrote from the heart on this album.”
The Brighton-born singer burst into the dance music scene with her self-titled debut album in 2016, produced by the late Daniel Fridholm (aka Cruelty), which quickly gained popularity amongst music fans worldwide.
She has since released a string of successful singles, with stamps of approval from tastemakers such as The Guardian, Billboard, MTV, Attitude Magazine, NOISEY, Popjustice, Wonderland and CLASH; with BBC Radio (Introducing, Radio 1 & 1Xtra) and Spotify (NMF UK & The Pop List) also showing their support. She has toured with artists such as Tove Styrke, Say Lou Lou, Nimmo, Bright Light Bright Light and 80s pop sensation Tiffany. Now, with the release of her second album, it’s clear to see Salt Ashes is on the verge of becoming a household name.
