Powerhouse vocalist and award winning songwriter Madame Freak (aka Jessi Teich) is a force to be reckoned with. Her soulful voice exudes strength and wisdom beyond her years. Raised in rural New Jersey on the jazz and blues, Madame Freak began writing her own music at age 8.

Madame Freak attended Berklee College of Music where she has since built a strong jazz fan base throughout the East Coast and parts of Europe. She had the honor of performing for Showtime at the Apollo’s Amateur Night at the age of 20 where she won 2nd place. After moving to Philadelphia, Madame Freak wrote, recorded, performed, and toured building her fan base.

Last year, Madame Freak had a chance meeting with the fiercely talented Laurent Derache Trio while recording a separate project in Paris. They soon after began writing music together, effortlessly moving through the realms of afro-pop, funk, soul, jazz and organic dance music creating Madame Freak & The Funky Fever.

Following the release of their debut album “Follow The Crack” in July, Madame Freak teamed up with Grammy nominated producers Mig & Rizzo to create booty-shakin’ remixes from their original song “Ride It.” With the highly anticipated remix on it’s way Madame Freak also teamed up with Who?Mag to create a fun and colorful video that will be sure to keep you dancing.

Salt Ashes Interviews With Hot Band Girls

HotBandGirls

HotBandGirls had a chance to catch up with Salt Ashes to discuss her sexy music video for her latest release “Somebody,” the inspiration behind her song, and the challenges that come with being a women in the music industry. You can read an excerpt of the interview below, and read the full article here. Make sure you purchase “Somebody” on iTunes today!

-You have just started out in the music scene as Salt Ashes, what is the message you want to convey to the world as an artist?
Right now, I am just sharing pieces of my mind and heart little by little for listeners to take what they want from it. If my music brings any kind of strong emotion out in somebody then I am always winning.

-Did you face any challenges when writing your latest single, “Somebody”?
This was actually one of those ones that came out in an evening…. I did some fine tuning later but the best part of it flew out of me pretty quickly. This definitely doesn’t happen all the time though, that would be a dream. Usually my best writing happens fast for some reason which is annoying when you’ve spent ages pouring blood and tears into a song and then it’s not good at all.

-How did you come up with the concept behind your video to “Somebody”?
I always had the idea of two bare bodies up close and personal, expressing their angst, passion and hate all at the same time. That’s essentially the essence of the song; Strong, erratic feelings. …  I wanted to portray intensity and there’s nothing better than stripping everything down to its purity and getting intense.

FreshNewTracks.com Interviews I.O.U.

IOUinterviewOur friends at FreshNewTracks.com had a chance to speak with the NJ hip hop duo about the release of their debut album “The Soul & The Intellect,” what they do for fun, what inspires them, and much more! Below is an excerpt of the interview, and you can read the rest of the article here.

What was the inspiration behind the album?

We wanted to show more of us as individuals, and how we work so well together as a team. We knew we wanted to do something different than our past mix-tapes and show who we truly are on a daily basis as the characters of The Soul & The Intellect.

Who is the soul, who is the intellect?

Buck is the soul child his lifestyle and choices he makes are more as a free spirit. He enjoys smoking, drinking and partying. While Izee is the Intellectual. He makes more rational decisions and while he enjoys partying, he will probably be the designated driver and looking for a nice female to accompany him home.

How did you get into music, and why?

Music for us was always about fun. It was just something to do after school when there was nothing else to do. But after being in the studio for hours, we soon realized this was something that we wanted to get better at. Then it turned into a passion. Then that passion became our hustle. And now we do this for a living and we’re enjoying life more than ever.

Brightside Network Media Interviews Ayah Marar

ayah-marar-1

Our friends at Brightside Network Media had a chance to catch up with the Queen of Bass Ayah Marar to discuss her “Real American Tour,” her collaboration with Calvin Harris “Thinking About You”, along with debut album “The Real” and her hit track “Beg Borrow Steal.” Check out an excerpt of the interview below and read the rest of the article here.

What does establishing your solo career mean for you on an emotional level?

More than anything, it’s an exercise in gaining the trust of the industry and fans so that I can start bringing through and representing the people that I think can make a real impact on the scene in a positive way.  It’s everything to me and it’s all I’ve got so it means the world.

Can you walk us through the production process behind “Beg Borrow Steal”?

I wrote and recorded it with Will Simms as part of my debut album, we locked ourselves away in a basement with cigarettes and red wine and poured our hearts out.  It was an exercise in self-expression and catharsis.  It’s a sensationalized autobiography.

We saw you played the Hard Rock Hotel o n the 8th in our neck of the woods… What do you think of the West Coast of California?

Absolutely adore it!  The people, the food and the vibe is unreal in SD, such a marvellously creative and fabulous place!

HotBandBoys

HotBandBoys.com had a chance to catch up with Matt Cardle and speak of his single “Loving You” with Melanie C, his friendship with the pop artist, UK X Factor, and his favorite tracks off his latest album Porcelain. Check out an excerpt of the interview below, and visit HotBandBoys.com to read more!

You did some producing on this song, how long did it take for the whole song to come together?

The song had been knocking around for a long time. I actually began writing it during the recording of my second album almost two years ago. I then saw Melanie at the Isle of Wight festival last year and the song came into my head asa possible duet. After meeting her I thought it would work brilliantly with her if she agreed. I made a rough demo of the song using a female vocalist and sent it to Mel. The rest, as they say, is history.

Can you share with us any funny or interested behind-the-scenes moments from either working with Melanie or working on the video?

I had done a lot of on-set kissing in a previous video. The actress that I was working with suggested we started kissing before the shoot so that we could get used to each others kissing style and although I was taken back at first, it really helped to make things seems as natural as possible. On the day of the video shoot for Loving You I suggested the same thing to Mel in my dressing room before we started shooting the kissing scene. We ended up giggling like a couple of teenagers, but it really worked as I’m sure you can tell in the video!

Who else would you like to collaborate with in the future?

I’ve always said for years and years that I’d love to work with Chris Martin. He’s in from one of the biggest and best bands in the world so I’ll keep dreaming and hopefully one day it will come true :-)
