Missguided’s Exclusive Interview With Salt Ashes

Emerging electronic pop artist Salt Ashes has been featured on the Discover section of Missguided‘s fashion and lifestyle blog. Missguided is a global fashion brand that unique products and designs that are inspired by street style, celebrities, music, and more. Salt Ashes spoke with the brand about her music, her new music video for ‘Save It,’ her musical inspirations, and of course her fashion tips and style. Brighton-based babe Salt Ashes is the latest artist on our radar and her electro tracks are quickly becoming faves on our playlist.  We caught up with her to chat fave gigs, dream collaborations and current Insta stalking…

Your videos are amazing, what’s the inspiration?
Thank you. Initially the ideas or, at least, the vibe will come from the song itself. They each inspire some kind of feeling in me, whether it’s passion, love, fun… from that I will build my ideas. I do take a lot of my visual and lyrical inspiration from photography, contemporary dance and people surrounding also.

Who’s the coolest person you’ve met so far?
NAO – Such a talented, down to earth person.

What’s the best gig you have ever played?
It would have to be my Album launch party at Birthdays, London last July. It was the first proper headline that I’d played and with a sold out crowd the energy in there was insane. It was also a fulfilling moment in my career having just released my debut album.

Why do you think the relationship between fashion and music is so strong?
They’re both a form of expression really through which you can let go of yourself and truly be yourself.

Who’s your biggest musical inspiration?
I don’t have just one I’m afraid – Giorgio Moroder, Madonna, Daft Punk.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration?
Instagram or just people watching on the streets

What do you love about Missguided? 
Shopping needs to be easy for me and the misguided website makes searching and buying clothes simple. There’s always new and exciting stock too so there’s always something I want.
