Salt Ashes – Into the Groove
London based electronic pop artist, Salt Ashes delivers a stripped down and emotional cover of Madonna‘s dance-pop classic “Into the Groove”. Produced entirely by Salt Ashes herself, the singer slows down the iconic hit, allowing her luscious vocals to take center stage amidst a sparse and down-tempo production.
Early Madonna is a big influence of mine. Her melodies, lyrics and rhythms are so memorable and hooky. It felt right to cover one of her tracks that I grew up on but wanted to make it my own. I recently got given an electric guitar and this was the first thing I recorded with it. It’s started off has just a guitar track and then I gradually built the production up by layering more guitar parts, synths, vocals and big, epic beats.

The new cover follows up Salt Ashes latest single, “Don’t”. The emotionally charged “anti-love song” was co-written with acclaimed UK singer-songwriter, Jon Allen during a studio session where they both ended up counselling each other about past relationships.
With stamps of approval from tastemakers such as The Guardian, Billboard, MTV, Attitude Magazine, NOISEY, Popjustice, Wonderland, CLASH, Missguided and BBC Radio (Introducing, Radio 1 & 1Xtra) as well as opening for artists such as Tove Styrke, Say Lou Lou, Nimmo, Bright Light Bright Light and 80s pop sensation Tiffany, it’s clear to see Salt Ashes is on the verge of becoming a household name.
Salt Ashes is currently in the studio working on new music for 2019. Be sure to follow her on social media for the latest updates and for info on her upcoming live shows.
