
Great Adamz Celebrates Double Award Wins, Festival Debut at Latitude, and 5 Million Streams Milestone
This past week Great Adamz was honored with two major awards, Golden Star Artist of the Year (Diaspora) and the DAC Special Recognition Award in Music, recognizing his outstanding contribution to Afrobeat music and the wider diaspora community. The ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, including Adamz’s local MP, Mike Reader, who praised his music publicly on social media this week.
Continuing his upward trajectory, Great Adamz is also confirmed to speak at a high-profile event this autumn, expected to be attended by the UK Prime Minister, a testament to his growing influence not just in music, but as a cultural ambassador and positive force for his community.
Adding to his list of firsts, Adamz will take to the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude Festival on 25th July, marking his biggest live performance to date. Fans can expect an electrifying set showcasing highlights from ‘Blessed Boy’, which has now surpassed 5 million streams, with Audiomack alone contributing over 2.3 million plays.
Born Great Adamatie in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, Great Adamz has been making waves in the UK music scene with his signature Afrobeat sound and captivating vocal style. His talent and dedication have earned him accolades such as the Golden Star Award in 2021 and a spot in the prestigious MOBO Award Unsung Class of 2022.
Following his signing with Radikal Records in early 2024, Adamz released the summer hit ‘Talk To Me’, which garnered international airplay and widespread acclaim. His follow-up single, ‘Kilon So’, a collaboration with Nigerian rap legend Erigga and genre-blending rising star Crae Wolf, broke into Spotify’s Viral Songs Nigeria Chart and amassed over 1 million streams. The track also received strong support from BBC Radio, solidifying Adamz’s place as a leading figure in the Afrobeats scene.
2024 marked a milestone year for the artist, with three No. 1 hits on the iTunes Nigeria Charts and another win for Artist of the Year (Diaspora) at the East African Entertainment Awards (EAEA). His last five singles have charted consecutively in the Top 10 on Music Week’s Urban Club Charts, with ‘Gimme Whyne’ currently sitting at #4. Additionally, Adamz was named Afrobeats/Afro Pop/Dancehall Artist of the Year at The Northamptonshire Local Music Awards for a second consecutive year, following wins in 2023 and a 2022 award for Afropop Artist of the Year.
