Leading the album’s rollout is the current single ‘One Minute’, a striking nod to his indie-rock roots. Driven by a pulsating bass groove and soaring, anthemic hooks, ‘One Minute’ invites listeners to embrace the present while recalling the sweet nostalgia of past memories—evoking the timeless sentiment of looking through old photographs and reliving moments of romance and bliss.

Also featured is the breakthrough single ‘Change My Number’, an empowering anthem about cutting toxic ties and reclaiming independence. With its addictive chorus, “Change my number, change my name,” Maddox channels raw emotion, delivering a soul-stirring performance that marks a bold sonic shift, drawing influence from powerhouse vocalists like Rag’n’Bone Man, Teddy Swims, and Tom Walker.

Among other highlights on the album are a poignant piano ballad ‘21 reflecting on the realisation that the days of youth have come and gone and a gorgeous duet with super talented, fast-rising London singer and labelmate Livvy Lauren, ‘Another Sad Song’. Co-written by the two singers with Tim Gosden and Becky Smith, ‘Another Sad Song’ reflects the struggles people feel in their day to day life and how the people and things that you love in life pick you up in the worst times. Influences for the album span a wide range of artists and genres, from The Beatles and Radiohead to Dua Lipa and Coldplay.

‘Waiting for the World to Turn’ is my second album, and I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. Most of the songs were written with friends over the last six months, so this album really captures a moment in time for me. I’ve been navigating a busy life, getting older, and working through personal growth in therapy. Writing these songs felt like having a conversation with myself about where I am mentally and emotionally. I hope people feel that same connection when they listen to it.” – Maddox Jones

This new era for Maddox comes amid a whirlwind of recognition. Named Songwriter of the Year at the Northamptonshire Local Music Awards, Maddox has been writing and collaborating this year with artists such as Billy Locket, Janet Devlin, and Great Adamz while working on his sophomore album. Promising to be his most raw, urgent work to date, the new album is slated for release on November 1st.

In support of the album’s release, Maddox is embarking on an extensive UK tour, opening for pop legend Will Young’s comeback tour across the UK, where he’ll be sharing new songs off his upcoming album. Before hitting the road at the end of October with Young, Maddox supported Mae Stephens on the Main Stage at the Northampton Music Festival on September 8th and opened for Kenny Thomas at the Roadmender in Northampton on September 20th.

Maddox enjoyed early success with The Departure, securing four Top 40 hits, sharing the stage with iconic bands such as The Killers and Placebo, and playing prestigious festivals like Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury. Maddox has a track record of electrifying performances alongside notable acts like Thomas Heaton, Beaux, The Lottery Winners, and Lemar. Having burst onto the scene as a solo artist in 2020 with the critically acclaimed EP, ‘Headspace’, the EP reached #4 in the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart. The follow-up 2021 single, ‘Can’t Wait for the Summer’ followed suit, hitting the top spot on the same chart. Tipped as One to Watch by BBC Introducing Northampton, Maddox has garnered further acclaim across the industry, earning a spot at #5 on Music Week’s Commercial Pop and Upfront Club Chart with ‘Make Me Yours’ off his debut album ‘Believe It’.
