Samuel Jared – Word Up
Rising Northampton singer-songwriter, Samuel Jared delivers a re-imagined version of Cameo‘s 1986 iconic single with his latest release, “Word Up”.
Produced by King Koi the cover has been praised for its dark, sexy atmospheric vibes as it blends alternative folk and acoustic arrangements with the track’s original funky performance. Originally self-released and now available via Radikal Records, Samuel’s new twist on the track maintains the nostalgia of the original record, and highlights the raw melodies by stripping the track back into a new direction.
Samuel Jared writes from the heart. “Only after an internal reaction to the composition do the lyrics follow, finding the words to express what has always been there” he states. The result is a raw, yet warm and honest sound from the Indie/Folk pop artist. He’s been featured on BBC Music Introducing with his 2021 track “Foundation” praised as “a song to keep on repeat” by Hope Ellen, (Aspen Waite Radio) whilst also being selected for ‘The best of Chilled Selection Playlist by BBC Radio Producer, Connor Osborn.
He writes catchy yet thoughtful and honest songs whilst making his audience feel motivated and reflective with his lyrics.
Born in Wales and moulded in Milton Keynes, Samuel originally Drummed in a three piece rock band whilst studying music at Bedford College. They supported the likes of King Prawn and became a headline act before respectfully parting ways for Uni. Drumming stopped but the Acoustic remained as Samuel took to writing and performing his own material and cover songs. After music took a back seat to his job, Lockdown/COVID happened and Sam became quite ill – so picked up music once again to occupy his mind.
Enjoyed by the adventurer/nomad type listener, Samuel’s music is described as “The perfect soundtrack for backpackers lives” by Rising Artistsin their 2021 Review. He continues to perform as he looks forward to playing live shows in 2024 & is currently working on new material in the studio to release this year.
