Artist Salt Ashes has released a mix for our friends at Noisey and Vice’s new series: Sleeve Notes, which features themed mixes by original artists. Here’s an excerpt of what they had to say, click here for the full article and stream the full mix below:
“Salt Ashes sprung to attention last year with a cover of Depeche Mode’s “Black Celebration”. She’s got a lot of great backing already: Clash said she managed to imprint her identity on the “Black Celebration” without “losing sight of the integral ingredients that made the original so special” and the follow-up single, “Someday”, recieved props from Popjustice who said it was the perfect antidote for everyone currently waiting for Kylie Minogue to pull her finger out and they’re not lying – “Someday” is an elegant slice of delectable electro-pop..”

If you missed it last night, Phil Taggart over at BBC1 Radio featured Salt Ashes‘ follow-up single “If You Let Me Go” on his evening radio show after discovering the song via a fan on Twitter. You can stream the live broadcast on their website here. Here’s what Phil had to say when presenting the record: “Apparently that track was made by sleeping on floors in New York, Ibiza and Berlin. If that’s the quality of a track sleeping on people’s floors, imagine if she had a week in the studio…bit of Kate Bush in there…loving it!’”

Today marks the worldwide release date for Salt Ashes’ follow up single “If You Let Me Go” and our friends at Indie Shuffle loved the record so much that they happily premiered it for us! Here’s what they had to say about it:
Salt Ashes’ newest single has a very uplifting quality. That is exactly what we all need today, being that it’s a Monday. Does anyone really like Mondays? (Rhetorical question.)
We hear some cool stories how songs were written, but while sleeping on floors between Ibiza, New York, and Berlin is a rarity. The quality of this track makes me question that statement. If it is true, and Salt Ashes keeps putting out hits like this, she won’t be sleeping on floors too long.
“If You Let Me Go” combines a bright disco style with some darker melodies, and is the perfect end of summer anthem. I almost feel wrong for saying this, but the ending riff that coincides with the drums is my favorite part. You’re probably thinking that is an odd thing to point out, but it really adds a lot of replay value to me. This song will be on repeat all day for me!

Today’s Throwback Thursday is Mad’house’s cover of Madonna’s classic “Like A Prayer.” This floor-stomping dance cover also features vocals from the Turkish singer Buse Unlu, who sounds so much like Madonna it’s both mind-blowing and creepy!
French producers Bambi Mukendi and Stephane Durand aka Mad’house, presumably massive Madonna fans, have obviously taken note of the nostalgia for the 80?s and dipped their bedroom producer mitts into Madonna’s immense back catalogue for the album Absolutely Mad. So get “Into The Groove” with this awesome electronic cover of “Like A Prayer.”
The wait is finally over! It has just been announced that the headliners for the European Ultra Music Festival 2013 will be Swedish heartthrob Avicii, trance legend Armin van Buuren, and EDM superstar Carl Cox! The legendary festival has seen countless superstars on its bills the past couple of years, even managing to bag Madonna, the queen of pop, as an announcer last year. As expected, early bird tickets sold out in less than ten minutes just last week, but not to worry: general admission tickets on sale NOW for the first two days, with the third and final day’s tickets going on sale in early 2013.
