Salt Ashes Interviews With Attitude Magazine!

Salt Ashes Interviews With Attitude Magazine

If you haven’t yet, head over to Attitude Magazine to read up on Salt Ashes’ interview on the inspiration behind “Somebody,” her upcoming projects, being compared to Kylie Minogue, and the origins of her name (it comes from a boat!) Check out an excerpt below of the interview, and head here to read it in its entirety!  Oh and if you haven’t already purchased Salt Ashes’ latest single “Somebody” make sure you get it on iTunes today!

Somebody was, in fact, inspired by a break-up.
“The song is basically about that shit period you have to go through just after a break-up. It’s all of those emotions that you feel when you’re bumping into your ex at a club and seeing them with another person. You can hear in the song that he walks into the club with another girl and it fucking kills you, doesn’t it?”

The song’s video, is, erm, a bit NSFW…
“The steamy element wasn’t really in my vocabulary when I was thinking about the video. What I wanted was passion, fire and aggressiveness because fundamentally that’s what the song is about. It’s about that raw passion between people, then breaking up and still feeling that passion but feeling aggressive towards them. I wanted all that pushing and pulling.”

Despite being referred to as the “S&M Kylie”, Salt Ashes doesn’t really hear much of La Minogue in her music. However, she really doesn’t mind the comparison.
“I think with any any artist, the natural thing to want to do is relate it to something that you’ve heard – so you know where to place it. I think that Somebody is definitely very Kylie. I’m not going to deny it. It’s kind of a dark Kylie. I don’t mind, really. I think I’m going to be continuously compared to people. The aim is to be as individual as possible, which can be difficult as the industry is so saturated with new musicians. But as long as I’m trying then I’m happy.”

Joonbug Interviews Kat DeLuna On Her Latest Featuring With The Bello Boys “Last Call”

Kat DeLuna gracefully took the time to speak with Joonbug on her latest feature with The Bello Boys on “Last Call” and the Latin sensation is absolutely adorable. Just in time for the release of the Spanish version of “Last Call” within the interview speaks on her absence from the scene, her Latino fans, and what we can expect from here in the future. Below is an excerpt of the Joonbug interview which you can read in full here, and make sure you purchase “Last Call” on iTunes today!

We haven’t heard anything from you in a while – we’ve missed you! What have you been up to?

Joonbug! Everything is great, I have been in the lab creating and traveling. It’s been a long but fun process. Every time I thought I finished my album a bigger idea would come to mind and I’ll be back to square one. To me that’s amazing. I prefer waiting a while until I release an album because if it isn’t ready.  I would hate putting out work without having my gut tell me “That’s the one!” My music is my child.

We see you’ve recently teamed up with The Bello Boys for their record, “Last Call.” How did that all come about?

Hollywood Hamilton (Sean Bello) and I are very good friends. We have always talked about doing something together.  When he played me the song I said to him “We got one!” It made total sense this song, the sound, it definitely will make people get up and dance! I’m honored to be a part of this project.

We’ve heard that you and the Bello Boys have a Spanish version of “Last Call” coming out as well. Could you tell us a bit about your Spanish fan base and favorite Spanish territories?

After I finished the English version, we definitely thought we should record a Spanish version and specially because of my Dominican roots. To me it’s always important to have Spanish versions of any work I do. Although my music is considered pop/American, I always do a Spanish version to involve my Latino fans! They support me majorly! Latinos!

Earmilk Premiers I.O.U.’s Music Video For “Greatest Time Of My Life”

Freshly premiered on Earmilk, I.O.U. is back with a set of visuals to accompany their latest single “Greatest Time Of My Life” off their debut album “The Soul & The Intellect”! Press play on the video above, and read below what Earmilk had to say about Buck and Izee’s new single, which is available on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon Mp3:

Laidback Buck and Methodical Izee, the wildest Jersey boys continue to gain positive momentum in the rap game with their debut album, The Soul & The Intellect. Andrew Bucker and Isaiah McNeil formed, Inside Our Universe at Rutgers University back in 2010 with the college anthem, “Rutgers State of Mind”!

The boys are back with stunning visuals for their 2nd single off the debut album, “Greatest Time Of My Life” directed by Jean Isaacs. The video portrays the group’s refined pop/hip-hop sounds that eclipse the standard radio poppy rap. The lyricism of the single serves as a reminder that is it important to be present with reality and appreciate things as they are. This record was produced with an uplifting beat that compliments the motivational lyrics that is best served on a summery night with a glass on the rocks. The spirited and up-tempo record will fuel any night of ratchet partying and oddly instill the passion to pursue your dreams!

The entire album is self-produced and released via the independent label, Radikal Records.

I.O.U. Sits Down With iMoveLive To Discuss “The Soul & The Intellect”

IOU The Soul & The Intellect

Buck and Izee who make up Inside Our Universe, long for I.O.U., recently sat down with iMovieLive to discuss their debut album “The Soul & The Intellect,” the reason as to why they chose “Other Side Of Fear” as their lead single, what inspires them and much more! The album is available for purchase on iTunes, and you can read below an excerpt of the interview and  read the entire article here.

Why did you select this song as your current single?

One of our main goals as a group is to inspire whoever we can, however we can. We feel ‘Other Side Of Fear’ does just that. The message is simple “Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” People can truly do whatever they desire to do, they just have to lay down their fears, and they’ll pretty much end up having the greatest time of their life doing so.

How does this single relate to the rest of the Album?

Well, the album as a whole represents the unique aspects of who we are as individuals, thus naming it “The Soul & The Intellect”. Yet there are some gems within the album that we’ve been able to mold together our voices. This single is one of many that shows our ability to mesh together The Soul and The Intellects style of music.

What was the writing process for the song?

It was a very simple process. While in college Izee created the music. Buck, not being in college, went over to his apartment and heard it. Then over the course of one week, Buck and Izee wrote and recorded the entire record.

Bimbo Jones & Beverley Knight’s “I Found Out” Song Of The Day On Notable Dance

Notable Dance

DJ Ron from Notable Dance featured Bimbo Jones & Beverley Knight’s “I Found Out” as song of the day, and also gave a stellar review for their just released album “Go Naked” which features Kristin W, Ida Corr, Sergio Mendes and many more! The album is currently up on Beatport and iTunes for purchase so make sure you get that today! You can read an excerpt of what Notable Dance had to say about the single and album below, and make sure you check out the rest of the article here:

“….Joining the previously released “Everything That I Got” (with Kristine W) and “See U Later/Questions” (with Ida Corr), “I Found Out” highlights the focus of their album – classically talented and big voices singing full-on songs over electro – something which is actually quite rare in the genre. With additional songs by Angie Brown, Blake Lewis, Debra Andrews, Sergio Mendes, and four powerhouse workouts by Katherine Ellis, ‘Go Naked’ is a must have for any lover of vocal dance music.”

Dancing Astronaut Features Satin Jackets’ remix of Salt Ashes’ “Somebody”

Dancing Astronaut Salt Ashes Satin Jackets

Salt Ashes

Our friends at Dancing Astronaut featured and reviewed Satin Jackets’ nu-disco remix of Salt Ashes’ debut single “Somebody.” Read what they had to say below:

The brainchild of German production talent Tim Bernhardt and his friend Den Ishu, Satin Jackets have established themselves as tentpoles in the indie dance discussion. Furthering their influence in the lower BPM range, their latest groove-driven output comes in remix form, this time reworking Salt Ashes “Somebody.” The debut single from 22-year old Veiga Sanchez, “Somebody” is defined by the Brit songbird’s evocative wails, vocals that are effortlessly juxtaposed by The Jackets lush padwork and tinsel-coated piano rolls. A summer sunset in sonic form, Satin Jackets once again deliver on their now patented indietronic tendencies.
