The Nightfly is the second
single from the Blank and Jones album DJ Culture. Two of the
most famous and most photogenic european DJs / producers /
remixers, Blank and Jones have become quite the celebrities on the
European continent and in the trance scene. Besides their many television
and club appearances over the course of the past year, they've performed
at the annual Love Parade held in Berlin, and also extensively in Ibiza
during the summer party season.
Besides working on their own studio projects, they've also found the time to do remixes
for artists such as Moby, Bellini, Future Breeze, Sash, Dario G,
Yello, Dune, Syntone, Basic Connection, Mauro Picotto, Storm and Liquid
Love. Their signature creamy, rich and smooth progressive trance
sound is highly sought after by DJs and artists alike.
The Nightfly is pure progressive trance like only Blank and Jones
can turn out. Expansive, uplifting and energetic, this track is a club
pleaser, driving dancefloors wild. It is an experience in and of
itself. With the help of remixes by DJ Jean (known for his hit
single The Launch), this single promises to be very
successful.
Move your body, find yourself.
CD Maxi Single includes:
"We started
working as DJs at a time when a DJ was still a freak and not
cool at all. The enjoyment in the music was the main thing for
the DJ then. With the album title we want to give the listeners our
conception of a DJ: a DJ is someone who plays records and wants to party with
people. In the 90's, the DJ has gradually become a very powerful
man who can make many important decisions all at once because he has been given
another role over the years. The 90's were the start of DJ culture
and this is continuing in the new millenium. Everything to do with the DJ,
which includes club culture, club wear and party flyers, i.e. practically
everything that sums up night life, is so exciting that we wanted to deal
with this theme on our album."
- Blank
and Jones on the way they conceive themselves as DJs.
"We are pursuing several goals with DJ Culture. Because
our DJ name is on the album we thought it was important that the CD would be a
typical Blank & Jones DJ team set. Despite the success of our
first (european release only) album In Da Mix, most
of the buyers know us mainly as DJs. And with DJ Culture,
they should get exactly what they expect of a DJ set from us. The album
has therefore been remixed and there are not only three up-tempo hits with the
rest of the tracks being chill-out album fillers. No, the whole album is full
of tracks which we play in the evening because we want to enable our fans to
take the authentic Blank & Jones feeling home with them. We
also want to comment on our musical development and expand our range. In
addition to several electro tracks and the EBM-style Waste Your
Youth, Nightfly Reprise bears the classic hallmarks of
contemporary British breaktrance."
- Blank and Jones on the album DJ Culture.

Born in Frankfurt am Main in 1971,
Piet Blank learned piano, saxophone and drums as a teenager and decided
to earn his living with music. After giving up his music studies after
only one semester, he went on to study business economics "so that record
companies and the like would be interested". To finance his studies,
Piet worked at a record store and as a DJ in various clubs in
Frankfurt. His passion for electronic dance music was
initially sparked during his long stay in New York. During the day
he worked in a trendy record store on Bleeker Street and in the evenings
he would play Frankfurt trance in warehouses down by the docks.
Back in Cologne, Piet became the regular Party Service DJ at Eins
Live Radio and can still be heard there every Saturday from 8pm -
5am.
Rene Runge aka Jaspa Jones was born in 1968 in Monchengladbach on the Lower Rhein. He also knew very early on that he wanted to earn a living with music. When the first big techno wave came in 1989, Rene was the resident DJ in the legendary Dusseldorf club Ratinger Hof and made sure that Techno was heard. He supported his positions as a Techno pioneer with various other club residencies.
In 1993, Rene produced his first record on Tall 2XLC's label Suck Me Plasma under the pseudonym Jaspa Jones. Since then, he has recorded under that name for numerous major labels and has done remixes for RMB, Taucher, U96, and NBG, just to name a few. He has also constructed his own recording studio - the Spacedust Studio in Dusseldorf, Germany where all Blank and Jones productions are created.
Cream is their debut single on Radikal Records. Ultra smooth and creamy trance with mixes by ATB and Paul Van Dyk. It reached #1 on the German Club Charts and # 30 on the UK Pop Charts. It's available in the USA on CD Maxi and 12" Vinyl single.
