Richie Hawtin, also known by his alias Plastikman, is coming back to the US this fall for a college tour with several other DJ’s in an attempt to introduce what he calls “the deeper side of electronic music.” Cntrl: Beyond EDM kicks off Monday, October 29th at SUNY Buffalo and will tour colleges on the East Coast, Midwest, and parts of Canada.
The tour will be a bus tour and the main goal will not only be to get their names out there, but to also teach people about all the genres and subgenres of electronic dance music. Loco Dice, Carl Craig, and Seth Troxler are some familiar names that will be present along with several other artists who will be joining workshops or playing at night. The workshops will be held by the artists themselves like, Loco Dice on old-school DJ-ing with modern technology or Hawtin’s sound technician on the importance of sound quality. In the end they hope that allowing people to talk to artists who have been producing electronic music for years will inspire a new generation of music lovers.Tags: Beyond EDM, Carl Craig, CNTRL, Cntrl: Beyond EDM, college tour, dj, edm, EDM workshop, electronic music, Johannes Kramer, Loco Dice, Plastikman, Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler
