Avicii: The Next Big EDM Superstar
Quick: Who is the first EDM artist to play Radio City Music Hall, perform with Madonna (at her personal request, might we add…), and model for Ralph Lauren? If you answered Avicii, you would be correct.
The 22-year-old Swedish heartthrob is predicted by many to be the next DJ to help bring EDM even more into the mainstream, and has recently been compared to Grammy winner Skrillex and crossover mainstream headliner Deadmau5. Avicii, (real name Tim Bergling) says of his musical style, “When you can hear that melody no matter what instrument’s playing, what genre or what tempo, then that’s a great melody. I try to make my music very melodic, and that’s how I connect with people.”
Bergling, whose heros are the now-disbanded EDM legends, Swedish House Mafia, says that he can only “hope to be so influential.” Clearly, he is already well on his way.
